The Fire Island Lighthouse has been guiding ships along the Atlantic coast of Long Island since1826. The National Park Service and Friends of the Lighthouse commissioned Protozone to develop and install interactive software to help visitors better understand the importance and functiions of this historic light.

Guiding Lights offers visitors a touchscreen inset in a vinyl mural to show the importance of the Fire Island Lighthouse and how to navigate using stars, day markers, flash signatures, buoys and depth chart maps

 

 

Lightworks interactively explains the science and technologyof the Fresnel Lens with animations and simulations on touchscreens mounted around the rail at the base of the Lens.

the software is menu driven leading to sections about the environment, ecology, history and activities within the Preserve.
