| A
few miles north of Taos town is the Pueblo, home now to about
150 people. Parts of the Pueblo are more than 1,000 years old
and it's the oldest continuously inhabited structure in the U.S.
No electricity (propane lights, stoves, refrigerators), no running
water - many of the lower level rooms around the center are arts
& crafts shops selling Taos wares. We visited twice. The first time was a harvest
celebration (10/7) with the center plaza packed with several
thousand onlookers and no cameras. The second time with Betsy
& George and a dozen or so other visitors. |
