A 45' long panoramic photo mural of sandcastles on a beach wraps around the walls of the Heart Center waiting room at Schneider Children's Hospital. The mural is a composite of dozens of elements, built, found, and photographed during the summer of 2004 at Green Hill, Fire Island. The castles are fantasies, drawn from a wide variety of architectural styles. An associated software program housed in a kiosk shows photos of other castle experiments along with historical images related to the structures. Our hope is that waiting children and their families will be temporarily transported to a world of beauty, mystery and serenity on a warm summer day.
